Sheathed Wear-Resistant Thermocouple(RTD)
Sheathed (mineral-insulated) thermocouples operate on the thermoelectric (Seebeck) effect: when two dissimilar conductors (e.g., NiCr–NiSi) form a closed loop with a temperature gradient between junctions, they generate a thermoelectromotive force (0–50 mV), which correlates to temperature. Their core structure—comprising fine thermoelements (0.5–3 mm diameter), MgO insulation, and a metal sheath (stainless steel or nickel alloy)—enables fast response (0.1–5 s) and high accuracy (±1.5 °C). Key features include millisecond-level response for dynamic process monitoring, high mechanical strength (withstands 20 N tensile force and bending radius ≥5× diameter), corrosion resistance across pH 1–14, flexible installation in tight spaces (min. bend radius 3 mm), and service life exceeding 5 years. Widely used in petrochemical cracking furnaces (800 °C) and nuclear piping (radiation-resistant variants), they support full-range customization from –200 °C to 1300 °C.
