Single Flange Differential Pressure Transmitter
In operation, a single-flange differential pressure transmitter transmits process pressure from both high- and low-pressure side isolation diaphragms through fill fluid to a central fill fluid chamber, which then conveys the differential pressure to the sensing diaphragm of a δ-cell sensor. This sensing diaphragm is a taut elastic element whose displacement varies proportionally with applied differential pressure (for GP gauge pressure transmitters, atmospheric pressure acts on the low-pressure side; for AP absolute pressure transmitters, the low side maintains a fixed reference pressure). Maximum diaphragm deflection is 0.004 inches (0.10 mm), and this displacement is linearly converted by capacitor plates and amplifier circuitry into a standard two-wire 4–20 mA DC current signal, voltage output, or digital HART signal.
