Thermal Mass Flow Meter

Thermal flow meters are direct mass flow meters capable of measuring mass flow rates. When the fluid is stationary, the heating element within the pipeline causes symmetric temperature distribution upstream and downstream, with both elements indicating equal temperatures. As the medium flows, the downstream temperature becomes higher than the upstream one. With increased flow velocity, the temperature difference increases until it reaches a certain threshold, after which the temperature difference starts to decrease as velocity continues to increase. For smaller flows, the characteristic of increasing temperature difference is utilized, whereas for larger flows, the decreasing temperature difference is used to ensure the uniqueness of the meter's readings. The thermal conductivity measurement method measures flow based on the relationship between heat dissipation from the heating element and flow velocity.
