Wedge Flow Meter
Wedge flow meters generate a differential pressure via a wedge-shaped restriction; this ΔP—proportional to the square of the flow rate—is extracted from upstream and downstream pressure taps, converted to an electrical signal by a differential pressure transmitter, and processed by an intelligent flow computer to yield accurate flow values; particularly suited for high-viscosity, low-Reynolds-number fluids or media containing suspended solids or bubbles, they are unaffected by dielectric properties, feature a self-cleaning, anti-clogging wedge design with flow-conditioning capability, offer compensation for variations in viscosity, temperature, and density, and demonstrate excellent resistance to vibration, shock, fouling, and corrosion—making them robust and reliable across diverse industrial applications including polyester and coal-to-hydrogen processes.
